Mangos Nightclub
Whether you love it or hate it, Mangos is by far the most famous and most visited club in Medellin. No first-time visit to Medellin would be complete without experiencing the unique fiesta that is Mangos. It has been the role-model for many of the newer big clubs that have since opened up along the southern highway in terms of it’s decoration and theatrical shows.
The nightclub overs an excellent variety of ‘crossover’ music and it’s ambiance is something very special that no other nightclub in the city can match. The style of the club is of the Old West, with trees growing inside, saddles replacing the standard bar stools and horses heads dispersing the water in the bathrooms amongst many other small details that cover every corner of this expansive place.
Mangos was the pioneer in alternating a cabaret style show into the standard DJ music and having a circus-like entourage of clowns, dwarfs, dancers and costumed waiters that add to the completely unique ambiance that many other discos have tried to adopt but none so successfully as Mangos itself.
The inside of the club is enormous with 4 large dancing platforms for variety shows and 4 giant screens for watching live camera footage of other areas of the club, TV shows or music videos. There are 2 large bars but there is ample table/dance-floor service from pretty waitresses.
There is no weekend where you will find Mangos empty especially when they put on their famous special events such as New Years Eve celebrations at the end of every month, Halloween, Christmas and Mardi Grass, the party from New Orleans where women try to get as many coloured beds from the men by lifting their tops and competing for the prize ‘best breasts in Medellin’.
Mangos is not for everyone, and it has it’s detractors but you can’t argue with the frantic energy of the place and arguably the best entertainment (certainly the most original) in the city.
